In this experimental video, seaweed serves as a metaphor for a queer analogy of ecology. How the realm of natural materials can create sensitivity and empathy with non-human agencies. The encounter with the uncanny and alienating object generates semiotic confusion. In classical taxonomy, algae are not plants but protists, and belong to a different kingdom, neither plant, nor animal, nor fungus, nor bacteria. Knowledge of the body is created through touch, a new intimate relationship created with a species that will be predominant in the changing Anthropocene. To touch means to comprehend. The tactile sense that forms sensuality can go as far as eroticism. Language is absent, but vibration and the combination of colour, moving images and sound make up the experience of synaesthesia.
